Modern American cuisine. Philip Marie is named after the middle names of the husband-and-wife team which owns the restaurant. John Philip Greco 3d is the chef, having graduated from some of the top restaurants in New York and France. His wife, Suzanne, runs the dining room and is often behind the bar. The atmosphere is appropriately cozy and casual, with outdoor seating in the warmer months.

Philip Marie is the result of one chef's desire to do exactly what he wants--serve appreciative people good food. He and his wife put an intense amount of effort in delivering on that dream. His dishes are modern twists on traditional American cuisine--lamb shank braised in Jack Daniels with pine nuts, smoked duck gumbo, pumpkin fritters, fried green tomatoes with creme fraiche and green caviar. The hidden extra that puts Philip Marie over the top is the romantic evening for two, located in the small wine cellar, which lasts for many hours, courses, and glasses of wine
