If you want something different than chewy cheesy pizza for a change than John's is the place to go. It's thin and deliciously crispy. I have never had a slice I didn't like. John's only uses fresh vegatables and they have a coal fired oven. Their other dishes are very good too; the ravioli is my favorite. Their motto is they don't sell slices so you do have to buy the whole pie, bring your appetite or your friends. Atmosphere is very pizza parlor-esque with booths, not fancy but quite enjoyable.

My out-of-town family and friends rave about John's Pizza in the West Village. For a casual, inexpensive, and cozy place to eat delicious pizza, John's is the place to go. Excellent experience overall.

Quite simply, John's is overrated, at least from the one time I ate there. Their nearly-burnt crust is good, but the sauce, cheese, and toppings are mediocre. There's better pizza in New York. The atmosphere is very hectic and crowded, which can be fun, but isn't much to crow about.
