Markt

Right in the meat-packing district, this trendy restaurant serves moderately priced Belgian fare and many expensive wines and beers.

Then it would be Markt. Markt is classier than Belgo, but it's less authentic. Nearly all of their entrees has Belgian beer in them (beef stew with Hoegaarten!), which is a little silly. There's a slight air of Disney to the whole place, including the French-Flemish-English menus. But the place is well appointed and the crowd amiable. The waitstaff was professional but pushes the alcohol pretty heavily (which makes sense, since that's where the big-ticket items are). The food is pretty high quality, especially for the location and price. Their fish is outstanding, and their fries are just how fries should be, like McDonald's for grownups. The desserts are excellent.
